Kristin Hannah, As Good As I Hoped For...

Over the past month I have treated myself to several books. I have really enjoyed reading a couple different authors and thought I would share one of them with you!

Kristin Hannah is an author I have wanted to read for a long time and finally got my hands on one of her books and could not put it down.

True Colors is based in Ocean Shores Washington and the plot develops around the dynamics of sisters. The oldest, Winona, is heavier, smart and successful. The middle sister, Aurora, is the peacemaker, married and living "the dream" and the youngest sister, Vivi Ann, is the pretty, daddy's little girl. She can do no wrong. Until an Indian joins their horse ranch and Vivi Ann falls in love breaking an engagement to a successful, home town, vet. The story includes, arguments, tender moments between sisters, and a disagreement that tests the sisterly bond. A very interesting plot and ending that kept me turning the pages.
Winter Garden, also written by Hannah, explores the relationship between mother and daughters. Anya, the mother is devastated by her husbands death and dying wish to tell the entirety of a fairy tale the girls heard when they were younger. As the girls grew up they lacked the bond daughters and mothers should have. Once their father dies, they promise to get to know their mother more. Nina is a world traveler, never settling down and is not always there for her sister Meredith. Meredith stayed at home, helped on the apple orchard and cared for her parents. The book follows the fairy tale Anya tells her girls as they learn more and more about her mother's past.
